ESCODA - NEW FAVE BRUSH

Always wanted a big posh sable brush. I was lucky and  I sold two paintings so had enough money to buy one.  I have become a convert to Escoda because of their quality and price compared to others that are similar.  The point is to die for.  Anyway got a 16 Reserva Kolynsky Sable and painted practically this whole painting with it, except the fine detail. Which at a push I could have tried I suppose.

The view is of a beautiful spot in Scotland.  The Bonnie Prince Charlie Monument near Fort William.  Taken from a photograph I took on my recent holiday there.

This was just after heavy rain, suddenly the sun came out, but this man still had on his lovely red jacket, so had to put him in the foreground.  I am going to darken the sky a bit and feel the man should have been on the right hand side to balance the painting.  But what the hell, I am only playing.  And enjoy playing with my new brush I did!

  1. Congratulations on the sales and I hope you and your posh brush will be happy ever after :0)

I like the man where he is as it draws attention to the path and people in the distance. You could always crop a bit off the right side to balance it a bit more ...

  2. It 'nice to have new tools, not only to improve technical performance, but also for the new excitement created by the news.
I experience this on me, whenever something new appears in my life and not only in painting.
Dear Polly,I wish you fabulous painting adventure with your new reliable friend! Congratulation for your sales and this beautiful landscape!
    Ad Maiora.
    Warm hugs,Rita.

  3. Polly - beautiful art and leave that Man where he is...he looks just fine. I have seen those Escoda brushes in art supply catalogs. May have to save up my pennies (or put it on a Christmas wish list) and get one of those brushes. New tools often times rekindle the excitement of being a child again and beckon us to come play. Polly your painting looks like you play very well. Have a lovely week-end.

  11. I found your lovely site from Judy's, and I'm glad I did. Your work is wonderful. I love this painting and the placement of the man is fine. He adds much interest and the pathway provides the perfect lead in to the main subject. Great work!!!
