PESKY FLYING ANTS

Firstly,  thank you all for following my blog and to those who comment a big thank you.  Please, if you follow me on facebook, don't feel you have to respond on both posts. I am trying not to spend so much time on the internet, but find looking at other blogs is inspirational and I hate to miss anyone, and really do try and catch up with them all.  Though I am sorry I don't always have time to comment.

This blog is annoying me, one minute I'm signed in then I am not!  What is going on?  Fingers crossed I can post this without any trouble.

Well it's hot here and muggy, so out come the pesky flying ants. Loads of them all at once.  Birds diving to catch this delicios bounty.  So I thought, perhaps they are not so horrible after all and proceeded to find a little picture of one in a 'spot that insect' type of book, and armed with a magnifying glass looked at one trapped in a spiders web. Here he is.

I decided to zuzz him up a bit, so he didn't look so creepy.

  2. You did a great job on this little creature!!! Love the colors. I was in the lake yesterday with my sister here in Maine with all these dragon flies around thinking how they would make a lovely painting if I could actually see their details.

  4. The colour which for me is the first emotion, always, it's so nice here with its contrast between yellows and turquoises-blue !!! This is a true princess among ants! Brilliant Polly!

  5. Very lovely painting! It seems that you are more fascinated by the bug, than annoyed. You made it look so beautiful!

  6. yes yes - pesky things, we had a whole nest of these flying ants emerge just beside the front door, the door was open and the moustiquaire had got twisted, so was also open, and all the blessed flying ants crawled up the curtain and plastered the window above the door. They're not really nasty, just creepy as you say, but it only took a few minutes to clear them all out. We've had to give our sweet dog lessons on how to replace the curtain correctly when she comes in and out... lol

    1. Oh I wouldn't have liked that at all. Good job they don't fly all the time.

  7. Dear Polly - only you can make a pesky flying ant look so beautiful. It is getting hot here too for a few days...more rain in the forecast ...we have pesky mosquitoes - don't know whether I can paint them to be as lovely as your ant (LOL)! Have a great day.

    1. Thank you Debbie. We are lucky we don't have mossies, so ants not so bad after all. Good luck with them if you try to paint them.

  8. I would love to see an ant as beautiful as this one! I love the bright colors, it is an interesting study. Thank goodness I don't get to see so many around here, we get a lot of mosquitoes.

    1. Flying ants are probably not as pesky as mossies. So we are lucky. They only fly a few times a year.
