PARIS & NORMANDY

Here's some sketches from my recent visit to France.  I tried to do a sketch a day, however quick. And the equipment I took.  Was in a really happy mood, so each one is a happy memory!  I do try and sit somewhere very discreet as I get all embarrassed if someone is watching me.  Are you the same?

These next three sketches are what I do when I am hanging around

Rouen Cathedral.  This lovely middle age city has narrow street, timber beamed houses and is famous as being the place where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake

Just in case I fancied doing a bigger painting I had a larger pad with me, but didn't use it.  The Khadi pad is really handy and the plastic oil dipper containers for my water.

I wish you all a lovely weekend, see you next week sometime. Au revoir.

  1. Wonderful sketches. You have such a nice memory journal. We get more memories in sketches than in photos. It is uncomfortable to be spotted when sketching. Ha. Thanks for visiting my blog.

    1. Thank you for your visit too. Yes I agree sketches are far more precious for our memories than a photo.

  2. Yes I try to sit with my back to a wall, and keep my book semi-closed, I think most people think I'm taking notes… I try really hard not to stare, or focus too hard. Part of why I rarely draw people is I'm afraid they'd be offended if they saw my drawings of them LOL. Your sketches are delightful, what a fabulous trip to France, I fear I'll never make it over there… but it is a dream of mine.

    1. You have so many places to visit in the USA you have no need to travel ALL that way. I do as you do in a discreet corner somewhere, but my head bobbing up and down is the give away I think. I concentrate more on peoples poses than what they look like. You can visit places on google these days.

  4. Great job on your sketches from your trip! I have definitely gotten over being embarrassed if someone sees me sketching. It doesn't bother me at all any more...you will get to that point after you do it long enough. Looks like you did some sketching everywhere.

    1. Don't think I ever will, though I am not as nervous as I used to be. But I don't do it as often as you.
