BLACK TURNS INTO GREEN

I go to a U3A group (a youth club for the over 50's) a drawing and painting group.  Each week the person who runs it sets up a still life (getting bored with them now my have to rebel)  Anyway this week was Christmas theme.  Was going to just painting the bauble but I can never resist painting the whole thing (a big fault of mine).

It was a black tree with blue and white decorations, not bright enough for me!!  I turned into a green tree with a multitude of colours.

Also I went into our lovely Victorian town to shop and came across these two Christmas things that I thought you might like to see.

Aren't these Cinderella's slippers?

Victorian Arcade with verandah and Santa's hut.  He must have gone for lunch.

Hope you are starting to feel in the festive mood.  Have a lovely Sunday and week.  I will be wishing you Seasons Greeting later, but for those who won't be looking in again, have a lovely Christmas and a Very Happy and Healthy New Year. xx

  1. Love your festive post... and you getting bored... never!! Feel another challenge coming on!!! We have a black tree from last year, always had a real one before but we redid our kitchen (it is an all in one room with our sitting area) and I thought it would lend itself to a black, red, silver and white tree... the kids were horrified that I had gone down the "artificial" root but who was laughing at whom when they have paid £50 for their trees this year and we just got ours out of the loft!! I do miss the real tree though, especially the smell!!!

  2. It was a rather well worn tree and looked a bit sad to me. Like the sound of the red on yours that gets a definite thumbs up. I don't miss a real tree except for the smell, which particularly reminds me of Christmas when I was a child. No challenge in mind it's just the class is basically drawing, they have been doing it for ages. I like variety. Maybe I will suggest a change. Thanks for your visit xx

  9. Nice to do your own thing Polly, I would hate painting something someone else chose but I suppose every now and then would be OK as an exerise

    1. It's just twice a month so treat it as an exercise, but my heart isn't really in it.

  11. I love your tree. Wish I could do still life but .i can't seem to get the perspective. I go to a U3A Art & Craft group too but we hardly ever do art. Your Cinderella kippers are a fantastic buy. Hugs Mrs A.

    1. Our U3A is mainly drawing. I used to hate still life with a vengance, but started playing around with colour and gradually they appeared and I got better. But I don't measure anything out, it's just guess work.

  12. Dear Polly - love your tree - I think green is a much better color. Loved seeing Cinderella's slippers and the photo of that gorgeous tree in the shopping area is lovely too. Hope you are having a super holiday season. Hugs

  13. What a lovely Christmas card design that lovely watercolour tree painting makes Polly. I too am on a tree theme for Christmas cards this year - except mine are all outdoor bare branches unadorned save for three little red birds perched in there. A card on its way to you tomorrow - looking forward to seeing you then Jan x

  17. Merry Xmas Polly.
I haven't been on Blogger for weeks so just catching up and loved your Christmas tree, and those silver slippers.
I'm not a 'Christmassy' person but have just put up our 'epileptic' tree as my Mother insists on calling it (its a fibre optic one) because we have lots of family coming to us this year - including kids so need to make some effort ... bah humbug!
