Brusho crazy is what I have been this last week. I have
Joanne Boon Thomas's ebook and DVD Brusho Moments, at last. So, armed with my brusho, brushes, bleach and enthusiasm, and fear of a change in the warm weather (I wanted to paint outdoors as I am a very messy painter), I had fun, fun, fun trying out some of the exercises, and then painting without the safety net of the book and DVD.
Exercise mixing the powder in the palette like watercolour. See how vibrant the colours are. They don't fade like watercolours

This was drawn with a stick and ink and spraying method |

Well I am over the moon with this one! Some negative painting here. This was following a superb red poppy that was demonstrated by Joanne.
Money well spent if you ask me. I have had a ball. Got more ideas in my head but need to set up the cold garage, which is away from the house, as a makeshift Brusho studio. Buy some thermals and fingerless gloves. |
Intriguing stuff is Brusho! Love the vibrant results!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's great if you like vivid colour.
DeleteYour 'Brusho' is beautiful, Polly. I'm not tempted to try it but I love what you are producing here! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ingrid.
DeleteI love the blue flower but I don't envy you in the cold garage!
ReplyDeleteI don't envy me the cold garage either. But if I get the urge I need somewhere to spray the brusho about!!!
DeleteWhat a lovely selection of paintings Polly... you are certainly getting your money's worth out of the book and DVD.....hard not to though, when they are so good!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Judith. Got another couple I must try. Hoping for a nice day, fingers crossed. The DVD and ebook are excellent. Easy to follow instructions! Brushogoodo
DeleteLovely results! Will have to google brusho :)
ReplyDeleteNow for cold garage, get down to the Outdoors store and kit yourself out for Base Camp :) xx
Thank you, and good idea, to kit myself out like that. Be visiting the shop poste haste.
DeleteGosh these are lovely!!! I love the vibrancy of the one of the fruits! And that creature is just amazing...I like how the spraying gives it a watery effect and the ink is perfect with it. The flower is just great!!! Keep experimenting. I am loving seeing these.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your encouragement. Possible won't be seeing that many til next summer (well may do some at class or club occasionally!).
ReplyDeleteLove the Highland Cow Polly. Intrigued by the Stick & Ink - isn't that a 'Stink'??
ReplyDeleteSorry, brain addled, too much sun and sangria methinks :-)
Brilliant. So I am painting with stink! No wonder I sit on my own at the art club! Enjoy soaking up the sun and sangria, if that's where you are.
DeleteMuchos gracias! thank you.
ReplyDeleteSon fantásticos,Polly. Me parece una técnica difícil...aunque a ti se te da bastante bien :)
ReplyDeleteI had a good teacher. Joanne Boon Thomas! I went to a workshop and bought the DVD Brusho Secrets.
DeleteHi, Polly, very nice!! It's really good to see you're enjoying painting. Thaaaat's it! Let's have fun. Keep up wonderful work and nice smile.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, Sadami
Thank you Sadami, for commenting. I find Brusho really exciting and FUN. The colours are bright and don't fade and you get some textures you wouldn't get any other way. I smile while I am working. :)
DeletePolly - your Brusho results are great. I love the vibrancy plus your subject matter is all wonderful too. Isn't it fun to try new art supplies!! So glad you shared your beautiful art. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, thanks. It is exciting to try something new, as I think I have tried just about everything else. But this is one I will be continuing to use.
DeleteCreativity at it's best ! You have some stunning work here with superb colors. I have to google Brusho too :-) Wish you a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWell thank you Jane! Hope you like what you see if you google Brusho!
Deletereally love your highland cow...sounds like you had a great workshop with joanne ...have a feeling you'll have to heat your garage polly :)
ReplyDeleteOh thanks Jane. Yes,it was really inspiring. And I just love colour. Table in garage. Now need a heater. It's away from the house so I expect it will be hard to heat.
DeleteHello Polly:) How about a patio heather in the garage? Your work is outstanding. Especially if you consider that you not so long work with this medium! Go for it Polly, you already have nice results!xx
