I HATE PAINTING FLOWERS!

Yes, it's true, I don't like painting flowers BUT I have been inspired by my blogging friends results, so I did the holly before Christmas and now I have done a poinsettia (can't be bothered getting a dictionary to check the spelling).  I first did a wet in wet mixed colour background and then painted the negative shapes, so it sorta looks ok.  I used a red picture but decided to change the colour.

Feel like a proper artist describing my process!!!  Don't think I'll be doing many flowers, but enjoyed the challenge nevertheless.  Thanks for the inspiration ..................

  2. Thank you for your kind words. I do like wet in wet, which doesnt always lend itself to flowers. I wasnt sure about the background

  5. Polly the term artist to me means someone with the willingness to express themselves through art and a thirst to know more about their subject to improve. You have both of these and lots of talent by the bucket full too. You know I love this already from FB.

    1. Laura, thank you so very much. I think it's the confidence side I'm lacking, according to Hazel's assessment. I'm certainly eager to learn in fact if I stopped learning I wouldn't enjoy painting.

  6. I wonder what it would have looked like if you liked to paint flowers :-)) Holly it's gorgeous ! And I love how you did your own personal touch with the color of the petals.

    1. Thank you Jane. We'll see how long it is before I paint flowers again. I'm certainly getting a lot of encouragement.

  7. I've had a hard time figuring out how to comment on your blog... I kept going to Google plus when I clicked on you name and then they wanted me to join in order to comment. I finally clicked on the title of the blog post and am able to.

Anyway, I want to tell you that I really like the flowers... you handle the wet in wet very well

  8. They don't make it easy. The reason I started a blog in the first place was so that I could comment on my friends site Nuggleton by the Sea! It was rather rash of me. It's lovely of you to go to all the trouble to comment, I feel very honoured. I love wet in wet and its unpredictability. May try some more flowers, who knows.

  10. Hi, Polly,
Lovely work!! Really weldone! Polly, you're not alone. Me, too. I hate still life and architecutre, which do not move around, that bore me. (you get why I do not upload them like figures.)
    Kind regards, Sadami

  14. This is a very lovely poinsettia, Polly! I find flowers among the easiest subjects to paint, as they don't require much precision, and... well, they are flowers and just love them. With every successful flower painting like this one, you'll start liking them more :)

  15. Isn't it funny how we all have subjects we find easier to paint. I do love flowers but I think they need quite a lot of precision to look like what they are.
