We've just come back from spending Christmas in the Lake District. Typical Lake District weather! Even so it was still very beautiful. I never tire of the views.

This is a view of the lake at Grasmere looking towards the village. It's no wonder Wordsworth loved it so, and William Heaton Cooper painted it so often. Every day and every hour the light is changing, never mind the changing seasons. It is one of my favourite places. |
this is so beautiful Polly - I love the Lake District - what a wonderful place to spend Christmas - I envy you being able to paint lamdscapes like this!
ReplyDeleteThank you. And I envy you the way you paint animals.
Deletewow....very beautiful painting!
ReplyDeleteWow Polly this is so gorgeous. You've captured the peacefullness and wildness of the Lake District. So beautiful. I think I will be taking a few tips from this one. Hope you enjoyed Christmas. Best wishes for 2013.
ReplyDeleteI hardly remember painting this, I enjoyed it so much. Not my usual battle. May be getting in touch about facebook in the New Year. Do have a wonderful 2013.
DeleteYou know where I am. It would be lovely to be able to talk to you on there. It really is so much easier. Take care. x
DeleteThis is so beautiful! I love the soft washes of the sky and lake, and then the hard edges of the tree branches and the shore create a nice contrast.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Thought there were too many branches really. Happy 2013.
DeleteThe painting is gorgeous and brought back wonderful memories.
ReplyDeleteBefore I came to America I spent many hiking trips all over the LD. A few years ago I visited again as I was having a show in the USA of all the places Wordsworth was inspired to write his poems - this time I had a hubby to hold the umbrella while I painted. We enjoyed a beautiful trip.
The Lake District is so lovely. It has hardly changed. It's a great area for walking but cos of the rain it's difficult for painting.
DeleteHello Polly:) My compliments on your beautiful painting. It must be wonderful there! Happy new year:)
ReplyDeleteThank you. We go there at least 2 or 3 times a year. I even love it there when it rains, which is what it did at Christmas. Have a wonderful 2013.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much.
